Artists Statement

My work explores the space between the real and the imagined. I am inspired by the natural world, not to illustrate, but to create a new voice in contemporary landscape. My recent paintings focus on ordinary moments in time and space - places often overlooked despite their raw beauty. I play with color and form, pushing the abstract components of each to create a landscape that jogs the memory without being specific. The color circumvents reality to create an explosive, emotional environment. Likewise, the application of paint is visceral and raw. The forms, often simplified, are still recognizable as reflections of our landscape. Through light, color and line, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
